For any passionate motorcyclist, sound exhaust is one of the most important aspects of their bike. The Yamaha R15 V3 has long been one of the most popular bikes in India and abroad because of its fantastic power and performance but also because of its stylish and sleek design that adds to its appeal. So how do you make your bike stand out even more? What’s the best way to give it that extra zing? The answer lies in the right sound exhaust system and choosing one can be quite difficult if you don’t know what to look for.
The Different Kinds of Bike Exhausts
When it comes to adding a new exhaust system to your bike, there are a number of different options available to you. Depending on what kind of sound you want or how much weight you want to add or subtract from your bike, you may choose one type over another. Some of these styles may not be legal in certain places, so make sure that you know what is allowed where before getting started with your project.
Here’s a quick rundown of some popular exhaust styles Harsh-sounding: Growling at low speeds and high rpms; loud but mellow at highway speeds.

These types tend to have straight pipes, no silencers, but they aren’t necessarily illegal if they meet government sound limit regulations. They do tend to have high volumes though and will require riders wear hearing protection if worn at loud venues like race tracks.
In-line side pipe 2-into-1 or 3-into-2 systems: These kinds of exhausts offer great torque power and relatively mellow sounds even when ridden hard; excellent for road racers who need a little extra kick out of their engines but don’t want an obnoxious sound invading their ears as they ride down country roads.
Types of Silencers
There are two types of silencers available in – Permanent & Temporary. Permanent silencers can be screwed on to your bike’s original exhaust pipe, while temporary ones can be attached and removed in a matter of minutes. We won’t go into details about their features and benefits here, but suffice it to say that permanent silencers tend to have better sound characteristics. Choosing between these two is really up to you! However, if you want something more comfortable (and less loud), then choosing an aftermarket sound enhancer is probably your best bet.
Permanent silencers are available in three different styles – Stainless Steel Aluminum Carbon Fiber Stainless Steel This type of silencer is by far the most popular option in India. It is made of stainless steel and is quite light, so it is easy to attach and remove.
Installing an Aftermarket Bike Exhaust
A great way to give your bike a boost in performance is by installing an aftermarket exhaust. You can increase power, reduce emissions and make your motorcycle sound better—all with one simple upgrade. However, you don’t have to be a mechanic to replace your stock exhaust system with an aftermarket pipe.
It’s actually pretty easy! Before you begin, find a safe place to work on your bike that has enough room for you to stand beside it and stretch out as much as possible. Protect anything underneath or around your bike while you’re working; prevent dirt from getting into places where it doesn’t belong and keep things like wires and hoses clean. Keep in mind that if you don’t know what you are doing, then consult someone who does!
Finding the Right Fitment and Performance
While it’s tempting to simply find an exhaust that sounds cool and add it to your bike, there are a few questions you should ask yourself first. How loud do I want my bike? What performance gains am I looking for? Do I want carbon fiber or stainless steel construction? You’ll also need to decide on design elements like whether you want one- or two-piece cans (meaning how many parts will make up your exhaust) and what brand you’re after.
How to Maintain an Aftermarket Bike Exhaust System
The easiest way to maintain an aftermarket exhaust system is to keep it in good shape from day one. Replace any corroded or damaged bolts with new ones, and tighten everything up to manufacturer’s specifications. When you first get your bike, take off all of your aftermarket accessories and wash them down with fresh water.
